We get asked this question in the shop all the time—and the answer is surprisingly simple: all of them.

Why isn't there a single "fastest" Carrera Digital car?

While there are theoretical differences in weight, wheelbase, center of gravity, or tire size, in practice, these are usually negligible. Far more critical are manufacturing tolerances, which can vary significantly among Carrera Digital 132 slot cars—even between identical models.

The key differences in detail:

✅ Wheel rim imbalance

During production, the plastic rims are pressed onto the axles. Whether they run perfectly true is purely a matter of chance.

➡️ An imbalance—for instance, just on the rear right rim—is enough to negatively affect the car's overall handling.

✅ Motor tolerances

The standard Carrera E200 motors have a manufacturing tolerance of up to ±10%. Consequently, a model with a "weaker" motor suffers a noticeable performance disadvantage—without it being visible from the outside.

✅ Magnet-to-track distance

Carrera cars are equipped with powerful neodymium magnets. A difference of just half a millimeter in the distance to the track can significantly alter grip—and, by extension, cornering speed.

How can Carrera Digital 132 slotcars can be compared ?

To ensure that your slot car offers the most consistent performance possible, the following measures can help:

Balancing wheels

By surface grinding the rear axle with Ortmann tires on the RSM, the imbalance is eliminated – this ensures smoother running and better traction.

Run in the engine

When the engine is professionally run in, the speed often increases by up to 10%
➡️ This provides a real performance boost, especially for “weaker” models.

Adjust magnet-setup

With trued Ortmann tires, the rear magnet can be removed. This makes all models more realistic and closer to real driving physics – with comparable grip values.
